EMERGING Geelong stars Tommy Jackson and Brody Couch have taken another step forward in their rise up the state's cricket ranks with selection in a Victorian second XI side.

Jackson, 19, who made his fifth Victorian Premier Cricket century on Saturday, and fellow Warrnambool export Couch, 20, were named in the 13-player squad to play six twenty20 matches in Maroochydore next week.
The squad, which will be led by talented Victorian batsman Will Pucovski, is set to play in a special T20 Toyota Second XI round from January 20 to 23.
The pair will enter the week with some strong form from the VIC Super Slam. Jackson has scored 103 runs at an average of 25.8 from his four games in the twenty20 competition.

In six games, Couch has taken nine wickets and conceded 178 runs at an economy rate 7.4 from his 24 overs with the ball.
The Victorians play NSW Metro first up on January 20. The following day they play Tasmania and Queensland.
On the 22nd they play the Queenslanders again before their second match against NSW Metro before the final day sees them conclude the rounds against Tasmania.
