A THICK blanket of smoke prevented Alastair Templeton's under 14 Western Waves from making amends for its day one loss.
Templeton said the Cricket Victoria order to abandon came after five overs in the Waves' bout with Highlanders on Tuesday.
He said the Waves would be subject to two Twenty20 matches on Wednesday and Thursday to make up time.
Matthew Love's under 18 Waves were also forced to stop play due to poor air quality.
Gold bound for semi
WARRNAMBOOL Gold is bound for under 13 country week finals action after finishing undefeated from four matches.
Warrnambool Blue, meanwhile, also scored two victories to make amends for two day-one defeats.
THE WARRNAMBOOL and District Cricket Association board will donate $50 for every six hit during its Twenty20 grand final on Thursday.
It is also asking spectators to donate a gold coin on entry with proceeds going to Victorian Fire Relief.
