That's the word of bowler Jimmy Elford, who has landed Creek's top job while captain Cam Williams is on Victoria Country duties.

Creek must defeat both Woodford and Dennington in a double-header on Saturday to keep its Twenty20 flag dream alive.

But the two-time reigning premier endured bumpy form pre-Christmas. It beat eighth-placed Wesley-CBC but couldn't dispatch flag favourite Brierly-Christ Church.

Elford told The Standard the Jetty Flat-based club would take no prisoners in pursuit of its best form.

"The longer-form stuff probably suits our team a bit more. We have an aggressive lineup and sometimes we're probably too aggressive in our fields and bowling," he said.

"Teams might get that extra 20 or 30 from time to time. We could restrict that by playing a more boring brand but we like to put pressure on the batsman.

"I think it pays off more than it doesn't.

"We cop a bit when it doesn't come off but we've won six or seven flags in the last three seasons so we're doing something right."

Personally, Elford couldn't be happier with the style.

"It's my favourite brand of cricket. It's probably been a downfall of my bowling in that I try to take too many wickets," he said.

"But I've been working on that at training and making plans and it's helped a little bit. You don't want to be too aggressive as a bowler."

Elford, who claimed 34 wickets in the last campaign, missed a chunk of cricket early in the season due to a hernia.

The 23-year-old, a bartender by trade, revealed his body was "feeling pretty good" but was still chasing his best form.

"My form has sort of gone with the team's form," Elford said.

"I've had good games and some average games. I've been working quite a lot in the summer so I've missed a few training sessions.

"It's about doing the work - going for an extra hit here and there - and making sure you're getting to training when you can."

He said Williams' absence opened the door for other batsman to take on responsibility.

"In the first few rounds, Cam was playing, but we didn't have Sasha (Silva)," Elford said.

"We have some good players in their own right who will definitely help to fill that void. "But it means a few guys can maybe slide up the order a bit and have a crack at an opportunity in the top four."

Creek's Saturday starts with Woodford in the 'Forever Young' game at 12pm.
