"In the morning all I watch is the news," he said.
"I knew the fires wouldn't come here, but I was still scared."
The five-year-old and his mother Lara hatched a plan to do their little bit to help the bushfire relief efforts.
Together they've baked an array of biscuits to sell at hairdressing business Alchemy On Morriss with all the funds raised going directly to the relief efforts.
"We can get money and give it to the people at the fires to buy more food and clothes and juice boxes," Arlie said.
"Biscuits can make them happy and make them brave."
The kindergarten pupil has baked an assortment of biscuits including chocolate flavoured bickies and honey joys. He said his favourite were the ones with Smarties on top.
Arlie is determined to raise as much money as possible to help the cause and his mother couldn't be prouder.
"This is just Arlie and this is what he does," Ms Edwards said.
"He's very sensitive and always wants to help."
Owner of Alchemy on Morriss and family friend of the Edwards' Ty Dance is thrilled to be supporting Arlie's Fire Appeal and has agreed to match the amount raised by the biscuit sales.
"I think what Arlie is doing is great," Mr Dance said.
"It's teaching him the lesson that even a kid selling biscuits for $5 can make a difference to people who have lost everything.
"When kids want to do these things we as adults must make it a reality to show them it is possible and no matter how small, every bit counts.
"At the end of the day all the prays and shares on Facebook mean nothing if you are not actively donating and I think that's a lesson we can all learn."
To support Arlie, head down to Alchemy on Morriss at 120 Morriss Road, Warrnambool and buy a $5 bag of three biscuits from 9am on Tuesday to Saturday.
