The representative Border outfit is looking to recruit several players before it commits to entering a women's team in the Capital league next year, which sees the side travel to Canberra for games every second week.
A number of players are still set to return, including experienced leaders Sherren Rahaley, Samantha Campbell and Samantha Daly.
Captain Daly came runner-up in last season's best and fairest count behind Wagga export Jackleene Macarthur, with Campbell and Rahaley following closely behind.
Hockey Albury-Wodonga Sports Operations Manager Cayte Campbell admitted the Spitfires' trio all offer a wealth of experience and knowledge that they are able to pass down to their teammates.
"They've all played at higher levels," Campbell said.
"We just need to recruit a few more players before we commit to entering the team.
"It's not just about people that want to play hockey, it's for people who want to commit to travelling every second week."
The women's team finished the season ninth on the ladder this season ahead of North Canberra Eagles.
Registrations for the women's Spitfires team need to be in before January 8th with the season set to kickoff in late March.
The Spitfires will also have the added assistance of Falcon's division one women's coach Rod White next season, who has an excellent track record in leading his side to finals.
"He's very experienced and very capable and will just add that extra level of assistance," Campbell said.
While the women's team search for more players, the men's side has already shown a healthy level of engagement for next season.
Tim Jones is coming off the back of a stellar year after securing back-to-back best and fairest awards with the club, while Dom Wild had a successful return and young defender Noah Erdeljac impressed.
The men were just shy of making the top four this year with Campbell expecting bigger and better things on their horizon.
"We've already got a team for the men and that's looking promising," Campbell said.
"We think they'll do better than last season, so we're hoping for finals action for the men."
Junior academy nominations are also currently open for aspiring youngsters hoping to play at representative level.
