The NSW Food Authority warned bottles of the popular chilli should not be opened if it was bloated and instead returned immediately.
The popular hot chilli sauce is sold at Coles, Woolworths, IGA's Independents, and Asian grocery stores around the country.
The regular said the defect meant lactic acid built up inside causing certain bottles to 'bloat' and continue to ferment.
They could then explode when opened and splatter the hot, bright red chilli everywhere.
The recall applies to Sriracha hot chilli sauce 17oz and 28oz, sold in a plastic bottle, with a best before date of March 2021.
The product was recalled earlier in the month in Europe and the US due to the same problem.
Sauce lovers are advised to return the products to the place of purchase for a full refund.
