The club will host the annual event at Warrrnambool breakwater at 6pm on Friday night.
It involves a one-kilometre run on the sand and 150-metre swim, repeated for one hour. The idea is to complete as many repetitions as possible and participants can enter as an individual or team.
Gavin, who has been with the club for the past two years, said it was a fantastic family activity.
"This one is good because it's over an hour, it's not necessarily just about who is in front," he said.
"It's about how many laps you can do within that hour.
"It's also an excellent team event for someone who likes swimming and someone who likes running."
Gavin, who finished third as an individual last year, is back for more.
"Hopefully, I might be able to knock out an extra lap," he said.
The winner is the athlete who completes the most laps in the hour.

Online registrations are open until 12 noon on Friday or people can register in person. Entry is $20 for an individual or $30 for a team.
"It's always a great event this one, there's no bike component so it's a lot more fun for people like me who hate the bike," Gavin said with a laugh.
"Everyone who knows me knows I hate the bike.
"These are good fun events."
Gavin said his strength was the running leg.
"I've been doing a lot of running over the past couple of years," he said.
He completed numerous half-marathons this year including one during the Warrnambool Running Festival.
He also mixed running with some surfing, swimming and other Warrnambool Tri Club events.
