Goanna's Shane Howard and Redgum's John Schumann will share stories and songs from their combined careers at the 2020 St Brigid's Blues and Roots Music Festival, on Friday, January 17.
Schumann said the pair had planned the show on a visit to the church a few years ago.
"One time I was hanging out with Shane he took me over to see the church and I thought it was absolutely marvellous," Schumann said.
"I said 'we have to do a gig here at some point in time, we absolutely have too'.
"I have been doing a bit of work with Shane over the last few years, we wrote a song together and have done a couple of tours.
"Usually we work with a big band when we do the 'Shane and Schuey Show' but this is more of stripped back thing, just songs and stories."
Schumann said he and Howard had done a few miles together, both had a good sense of humour and they were both "massively irreverent".
"We have a similar approach to our songs, we want them to be a contribution," he said.
"I think Shane has made a huge contribution to the national culture, and alerted Australians to the plight of the indigenous people."
The St Brigid's show will involve Howard and Schumann interpreting each other's songs and swapping verses.
"Whenever we get a chance we do something together," Schumann said.
"It's really interesting for people to hear me interpret Solid Rock or hear him singing I Was Only 19. It's a real collaboration."
Tickets to see John Schumann and Shane Howard at St Brigid's Church are available through TryBooking. Doors will open at 7pm.
