Warrnambool's Maureen Brunt is closing her Koroit Street store Nanna's Drawers at the Glass House Plaza.
Ms Brunt said she was starting "a new chapter" of her life, while the business remained profitable.
"It has nothing to do with the street, it's just a new chapter in my life I'm just moving onto with the grand kids and the family. The shop has held its own for all these years," she said.
Started as a stall at the Mortlake markets seven years ago, Ms Brunt recalled making just enough to cover her stall fee.
She opened a pop-up store in Warrnambool about three years later, and to her delight the city embraced it.
"I thought I will just give it a go," she said.
"It's just something for everyone. It's games, it's jigsaws, it's football, it's christenings and weddings ... many people say there's nothing like it."
The store even at one stage occupied three stores in the arcade and employed five staff.
Ms Brunt said she would miss working with people and the community, including her store attendant and friend Kylie Martin.
"I started it for young families who couldn't afford to go and buy top stuff, just families that struggle and they knew they could buy something nice for reasonable prices," she said.
"If there's a young child I know and she's in here and really likes something I will pick it up and give it to her. I'm not martyr, that's just who I am."
The store will close at the end of January 2020.
