Two accidents occurred almost simultaneously on south-west roads this evening.
Hamilton Police Sergeant Pam Nix said the first accident involved a mother and her six-year-old son on the Casterton-Dartmoor Road near Digby at 6.45pm.
"The female was trapped for over one hour in the car," she said.
"The mother tried to negotiate a bend and ran off road.
"Her son was removed from the car and was taken to Mount Gambier Hospital with a bump on his head and a bruised ankle.
"The mother will be airlifted with unknown injuries but she is conscious and breathing."
The second accident occurred at the Penshurst-Warrnambool Road near Minhamite at 7pm.
"The woman was travelling to Warrnambool when her vehicle left the road and rolled," Sergeant Nix said.
"The female managed to exit the vehicle and was taken to a Warrnambool hospital with a suspected back injury."
Sergeant Rix said both accidents will be investigated to establish their cause.
