Niranjana, one of two Lakers imports, was tossed the ball as Camperdown was defending its 167-run total from Cobden on Saturday.
The result was staggering.
(Niranjana) has been bowling in the nets and has been bowling really well.
- Steven Fisher
Niranjana produced a five-wicket haul to help prevent Cobden snatching victory in the final over.
The result shot the Lakers back to finals calculations - they're now just outside the top four on percentage.
"He's been bowling in the nets and has been bowling pretty well," coach Steven Fisher said.
"It was a good batting deck and we just thought we needed something a bit different."
Fisher said Niranjana and fellow import Shaluka Silva had brought a "strong professionalism" to the Wright Oval-based club.
He said belief was growing as Camperdown works to break a seven-year finals drought.
"They bring that little bit extra and they've both obviously played at a high level," he said.
"We're looking and thinking we'll go into most games competitive.
"Taking home a win has that belief coming through."
Camperdown will play Bookaar next week.
