Sergeant Greg Cressall, of Warrnambool police, said a white 2014 Mitsubishi Pajero was stolen from Botanic Road between 4.30am and 6am.
"The vehicle was parked on the driveway outside the private address," he said.
"It was last seen by a member of public going through the red lights near Bunnings.
"There is a red light camera there so hopefully we'll get a photo.
"The witness said three occupants were in the vehicle which had a smash window."
Sergeant Cressall said the witness couldn't identify which window was damaged.
The vehicle's registration plate is 1DO 3BL.
