Hamilton police Senior Constable Bruce McNaughton said thieves initially pushed a 1975 Ford Escort from the Tulloch Street property.
"They pushed the car out into the street but were unable to get it going," Senior Constable McNaughton said.
"They left the car about 50 meters down the road and went back for the motorbike instead.
"The motorbike was later dumped in a secluded spot, and found today by a member of the public who reported it to Hamilton police.
"Police recovered the motorbike and returned it to the owner."
