Pro-stock racer Glenn Wooster broke the six-second barrier for the first time in his illustrious career during the second round on Saturday.

The former Australian champion's time of 6.997 came after a long night of repairs following engine damage on Friday night.

Wooster continued his impressive form with another quick time of 7.041 following a lazy 0.185 reaction time to beat Daniel Rabnott in the final.

Warrnambool and District Drag Racing Association vice-president Tony Frost was close by to witness his mate and fellow competitor score the achievement.

Frost was making his debut in the pro-stock class after being asked to make step up into the division for the opening round of the series.

The long-time racer said it was an experience he would never forget.

"I normally race competition bikes but I stepped up to help the class out," the 48-year-old said.

"It was very great in the sense of experience it game me. It has always been a dream of mine to run group one and it was nice to do it with Glenn and mates I have made.

"I ran a small engine and the problem with it was that I won't be at the top level like the other guys but it was just more for experience.

"The more laps I can do the better I will become and until I can get a better engine I won't be at pointy end. But I was learning and you never stop learning in our sport."

Frost, who has been drag racing since he was 18, said he was unsure when he would make a return to the class.
