But Gators co-captain Brad Sheen says the Uebergang Oval side will enjoy the ride while he's still taking the field.
McCluggage blasted an unbeaten 74 to help Allansford to a 57-run victory over Wesley-CBC on Saturday.
Sheen said McCluggage, a schoolteacher, would be available on an ad-hoc basis as he his wife await the arrival of their first child.
The first-year leader said the Gators put the onus on the top-order to bat through the 45-over innings.
We're stoked to have him in the side. He'll play some one-dayers for us and maybe pull the pin after that.

"The goal was for one person at the top of the order to bat through and Gault was the man who did that," Sheen said.
"We're stoked to have him in the side. He'll play some one-dayers for us and maybe pull the pin after that.
"He batted really, really well for us. We hope that result will be a good stepping stone for us."
Allansford's 142-run total was the first on Wesley-CBC's Walter Oval this season.
Sheen revealed his side was tracking well and was positive it could ruffle feathers at the pointy end of the season.
Allansford is equal first and is yet to be defeated.
"You have to be happy winning games of cricket," he told The Standard.
"We just want to keep going and rolling forward now. We want to play consistent cricket and in Port Fairy next week, we'll have another challenge.
"We have to keep that winning confidence."
