The Allansford sprintcar driver is determined to push his name into the top 10 consistently this summer.
Van Ginneken is part of a 53-strong field set to contest the third round of the Sprintcar Association of Victoria series on Saturday.
But his preparation hasn't been straightforward.
Van Ginneken's car suffered mechanical faults in his maiden show of the season at Avalon last week.
Now we're doing them, we're trying to make the top 10 and do that little bit better.

The 33-year-old's engine needed repairs and was couriered to Adelaide on Sunday, with an estimated return of Friday afternoon.
"We pulled it out and washed it up. It'll be back with us on Friday so we'll have a busy night putting the car together," Van Ginneken said.
"We lost brakes before the feature started (at Avalon) and once we cruised around and stayed out of trouble the motor went. We were running third.
"It wasn't how we wanted to start the year."
But Van Ginneken, who drives for Trevor Anderson, holds high hopes for the season ahead.
"Last year we ran wingless sprints, formula 500s, 410 sprintcars and 360 sprintcars. In every feature race we ran, we made the A-Main," he said.
"It's coming up to our eighth season in sprintcars. Back four years ago, I was just happy to make the A-Main.
"Now we're doing them, we're trying to make the top 10 and do that little bit better."
Warrnambool's strong sprintcar driver fraternity has Van Ginneken even more determined for success.
"A couple of years ago, I won the WA state title and the Northern Territory title and Corey (McCullagh) messaged me and said 'how cool is it we can beat James McFadden?'," he said.
"A few months later, he was beating everyone at the classic. It proves we can do it.
"Luck is a big part of it. You've got to have that and your gear right. It's part of the game. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it."
Gates open at 4pm on Saturday.
