Leigh James, 30, of Raglan Parade, Warrnambool, pleaded guilty in Warrnambool Magistrates Court to reckless conduct, driving while disqualified, speeding, handling stolen goods and drug and weapon offences.
He was jailed for 150 days - 113 of which he has already served in custody on remand.
His drivers licence was cancelled for 12 months.
On April 4, James drove a silver Holden Commodore sedan at speeds of up to 133km/h in a signed 80km/h zone.
Witnesses observed the vehicle collide with a light pole at Warrnambool's Aberline Road, causing significant damage to the car.
James allegedly continued to drive after the collision, creating large clouds of smoke and forcing an oncoming vehicle to veer left in order to avoid a crash.
Police located the vehicle at the corner of Wares Road and Kielli Drive at 3.25pm. The vehicle had two different registration plates held on with cable ties.
A witness told police they saw a male matching James' appearance flee the vehicle on foot.
Police said James' DNA was found in a head-shaped dint inside the car.
He was arrested at a Raglan Parade property after police found him hiding in a shelving space at the rear of a garage.
James initially denied the offending and nominated another driver, whom police allege did not match the witness' description as he was older, had darker hair and notable tattoos.
James also pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis, cartridge ammunition, $6500 cash believed to be proceeds of crime and a tomahawk.
He has an extensive criminal history that includes attempting to flee a court room and throwing punches at emergency service workers.
