A GARVOC family can now lay claim to having two elite athletes within its ranks.
Maria Moloney, the sister of Commonwealth Games marathon representative Virginia, realised her football dream is much closer than she thought after Brisbane selected her in Tuesday's AFLW draft.
The 24-year-old was picked up from the University of Queensland's Red Lions and was Brisbane's final selection in this year's draft, taken with pick 75.
Moloney, who is effective with both hands and feet, will play as a small inside midfielder in the Craig Starcevich-coached side.
Her older sister Virginia took to social media to share her congratulations.
"Maria Moloney, we were already proud but this just takes it to a whole new level," she wrote on Twitter.
Moloney becomes the second south-west football export to be drafted into the AFLW after Branxholme's Georgia Clarke went to Geelong via the 2017 intake.
