Murphy finished the Bulls' run-chase unbeaten on 67 while Love was dismissed for 51 as their side collected a seven-wicket win over the Pirates on Saturday.
The 31-year-old praised his younger batting partner after their 113-run stand guided the Bulls to their second win of the season.
"Cam is a good up and coming talent and I had spoken to him a little bit in the off-season about things for him to work on to help him build confidence," Murphy told The Standard.
"He knows his game well and is backing himself. I said to him at the crease yesterday that we wanted to enjoy it and keep enjoying being out there."

Murphy said there was a good feeling building around the club this season.
"We don't speak about last year (and the grand final loss) but it's there," he said.
"Our main focus is to start the season well. Two wins is good but we still have a lot of improvement but vibe is really good.
"In the twos someone took a five-for and a hat-trick so we celebrated that and we had a good first club function. We understand there's still a lot of cricket left but hopefully we're playing finals later.
"For now we will enjoy each other's company and hope that brings us tight and we can have success."
Brierly-Christ Church coach Jason Mungean said the pair had relished their new roles.
"Nathan was solid at the top and he was a bit disappointed by last season but he has put his hand up to open and both games he has batted superb," he said.
"He has been a rock at top of the order and is playing some positive shots. another highlight is his running between the wickets. He is turning twos into threes and that means we are rotating the strike.
"Cam has had a change of role this year. He batted at five and six and now he has been moved to number three and he has more responsibility and so far he has done well.
"He got 20 in the first game and 50 yesterday and he has showed a lot of class and he can hit to all parts of the park. It's a pleasure to watch him play good cricket."
