Victoria's Department of Transport says the roadworks will occur between Fairfax Avenue and Warrnambool Stadium from Sunday September 22 until Friday October 11.
Authorities will close lanes and introduce a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h while the works are underway between 7.30pm and 5am.
The lanes will remain open to traffic during the day and the department said motorists should expect minor delays.
The works will improve the road surface and include near the entrance to Brauer College.
People who see any hazards on south-west roads can report them to the VicRoads Traffic Management Centre on 13 11 70, open 24/7. In an emergency, call triple zero.
