The defender, who received 28 votes, won the Hampden league's division three netball best and fairest count on Sunday.
She was two votes ahead of Hamilton Kangaroos' Hollie Phillips.
"I'm super excited, very overwhelmed," she said after the victory.
"It was unexpected."
O'Grady said it was the first year at senior level that she hadn't suffered a major injury.
She admitted she felt nervous during the thrilling count.
"I was, my heart was fully pumping," she said with a smile.
O'Grady had lost some of her voice for Sunday's count after cheering on the Seagulls' finals teams on Saturday.
"Yesterday, we went and supported the div two and div one girls and they both got through.
"So three teams in the grand finals is amazing."

She also has a grand final to play against Hamilton Kangaroos.
O'Grady gave special thanks to her husband Jason and 19-month-old son Jackson.
Fans can expect to see O'Grady line up at wing defence or goal defence in the grand final.
