And after seeing her "game of the season", the premiership-winning Saint knows Mitchell still has another level in her for next week's Hampden league grand final against Cobden.
"She is stepping up in these finals times and I know she can do it again," Owen said after the Saints secured a third straight decider berth with a 51-46 preliminary final victory over Warrnambool on Saturday.
Mitchell finished the game with 39 of her side's goals, teaming well with emerging star Belle Baker to out-muscle and outplay Blues' defenders Emma Cust, Jenna Graham and Danielle Keilar.
The versatile stopper, who mixed her time between wing and goal defence roles during the five-goal win, said the Blues struggled to negate star goalie's influence.
"She was incredible... it was the game of the season for Nell, they couldn't stop her," Owen said.
"She took it in so strong and gets bumps and knocks but was so steady."

The Saints are now just one win away from completing a three-peat of open grade premiership victories but Owen said it was not team's focus.
"We don't really think about our last ones, I think it's a pretty new group and we have been so excited about where we have come so far," she said. "There is no real pressure on us and it's definitely exciting that we have finally gotten to the last game."
Warrnambool coach Raewyn Poumako conceded it just wasn't her side's day.
"We had really good preparation leading up to the game and they were focused and wanted it but it just didn't happen for us today," she said.
"It was a really tight game and there wasn't many turnovers so whenever you get a turnover you have just got to hold onto it and limit your mistakes. I just thought there was nothing much in it."
Poumako said she was "very, very proud of the girls".
"They are a great group of girls and I couldn't have asked more from them," she said. "Their effort, their commitment, their getting around each other has been superb."
