The Blues' three possible inclusions of Dylan Willsher, Rick Spokes and Aaron Searle were named as emergencies after a tough week of selection headaches for the premiership co-coaches.

"It would have been very unlucky if someone had missed but it's also unlucky for the boys we didn't bring in," Threlfall said of the pair's final decision.

"There was no winner in the situation of trying to fit everyone in."

Max Primmer has been named as the Blues' junior player.

Searle (11 games, 43 goals) and Willsher (14 games) played in last year's flag triumph and have been constant contributors throughout this year's defence.

Spokes returned to the club this season and hasn't missed a beat - playing 15 games and slotting 19 goals.

Threlfall said the selection panel had been deliberating over the decision for most of the week.

"We had good discussion on Tuesday and got round to selection during training on Thursday and made the decision late into the session," he said.

"They (Searle, Spokes and Willsher) were keen to play and they would be disappointed but they also understand that putting the team first is important."

Kolora-Noorat's junior sub Charlie Scanlon is getting excited ahead of his first senior grand final.

The 17-year-old hadn't played a senior game since round 13 before getting a late call-up for the Power's preliminary final win over Old Collegians.

He replaced fellow youngster Henry Kenna who broke his collarbone in Kolora-Noorat's under 18s preliminary final loss to Merrivale.

Kenna was due to play as the Power's junior sub against Old Collegians.

Scanlon, who said he felt for his good mate Kenna, wants to put in a good performance.

"Obviously I'm excited," he said.

"It's a huge day for me, I've played all my junior footy here and the dream to play senior footy here was always there.

"And to be in a grand final, it's unreal."

Scanlon counts himself lucky for the experiences he's had at the Power.

"I think I've played in finals every year that I have played (football) so I'll be taking confidence that I have been there before," he said.

The youngster played in Kolora-Noorat's under 17.5 premierships in 2017-18.

Playing coach Ben Walsh said Scanlon impressed against the Warriors.

"He came in and played really well," he said.

"It's a real shame for Henry because he's had a really good second half of the year for such a young kid.

"So he unfortunately is a bit of a hard luck story this year."

Walsh said Scanlon brought many attributes to the senior team.

"He's a beauty, Charlie," he said.

"He has played as an inside midfielder in the under 18s.

"He's quite tall and has quite a good build.

"He'll probably play at half-forward and wing."

Wingman Jason Moloney comes in for Matthew Harkin, after overcoming a hip complaint that kept him out of the preliminary final.

Walsh said Moloney, who didn't train with the group on Thursday night, was raring to go.

"He's fit and firing," he said.

"He's down in Melbourne, he's just preparing like he always does and he's jumping out of his skin."
