After the closure of Vision Australia's service earlier this year, the daily reading of The Standard left the airwaves, meaning those who relied on it were without their local knowledge.
Now the volunteers responsible for it have worked with 3WAY-FM to ensure the news can be heard and presenter of the returned bulletin Chris Cussen could not be more thrilled.
"When Vision Australia finished in May, we were without a studio," Ms Cussen said
"Most of the volunteers felt we were letting down our audience by not delivering the news.
"Our audience comprises of vision-impaired people, those who are driving and can't otherwise read the news and people who may not be able to hold a newspaper due to illness. For these people, our broadcast is the only access they have to The Standard.
"We explored different options but it was the committee here at the community radio station who were very proactive in getting us back on the air."
The 3WAY-FM station revamped an empty room in its complex to house the new broadcast.
President of 3WAY-FM John MacInnes is thrilled to have the news as part of the station's daily set list.
"We spent a couple of months preparing the room for recording and rearranging our program grid to fit in the news reading," he said.
"All our presenters willingly changed there schedules to fit in the news reading because we feel delivering the community news is exactly what we should do as a community radio."
The daily news reading can be heard from 12.30 - 1pm on 103.7 3WAY-FM from Monday to Friday.
