More Minties trained by Merv McKenzie resumed with a second placing behind Royal Rue on a heavy track in maiden company at Warrnambool on August 8.
McKenzie said the lightly raced six-year-old had improved with the run under his belt.
"I reckon More Minties is better for that run but he has to be," the popular trainer said.
"I think it's a tougher race this time. I rate my bloke a good each way chance at nice odds. He likes the wet ground and the rain on Wednesday has helped our chances.

"He's a funny type of horse. He used to sweat up before his races but he appears to have settled down going by his first up run. I was hopeful of getting Jarrod Fry to ride him again but Jarrod had to ride one for Mitch Freedman.
"Dean Holland will ride him it's turned out a good result as Dean has ridden the horse before and understands him."
Bookmakers rate More Minties a $20 chance in the early betting markets to break his maiden status.
The running rail will be out seven metres for the entire track and the racing surface has been rated a heavy ten. The first of eight races is scheduled to start at 1.30pm with the last set to start at 5.00pm.
