McCullagh-Beasy''s feature story which traced Warrnambool export Trevor Gleeson's rise to one of the country's best basketball coaches, was named the best sports story at Friday night's RPCV annual awards in Melbourne.
The feature, Still the boy called Budsa, captured the attention of judges, who described it as a well-written, comprehensive piece that gave readers personal insights into one of the region's favourite sons.
The Standard's Morgan Hancock narrowly missed out on the photographer of the year award, being one of three finalists.
