Bons Away, resumes from a spell with top jockey Linda Meech riding the six-year-old in the $140,000 Carlyon Stakes for the powerful Maher- David Eustace combination. The son of Bon Hoffa has won two of his previous five first-up runs.
"I think Bons Away is our best chance of having a winner," Maher said.
"Linda is riding in great form and understands Bons Away. The race maps really well for Bons Away.
"He's run against some top class sprinters at the highest level during his career and ran really well.
"I would love to think in this preparation he may win a group one race, if not in this preparation maybe the next. I've been happy with his trackwork in the lead up to this race."
Bons Away is rated a $3.30 chance in the early betting markets for the listed race.
Al Galayal, Kemono, Street Icon, Cedar Grande and Spirit Of Valour are among other runners the Maher-Eustace stable has running at the Valley.
