The class of 1965 to 1969 got together to celebrate their 50-year reunion at Warrnambool's Flying Horse Bar and Brewery on Saturday.
Former student Glenys Fleming said the group first reunited in 1981 at her Wangoom Road home.
"Back then a lot of people were pregnant and having babies," she said.
"This year it's a bit different - now a lot of the group have grandchildren.
"A lot of the girls married local guys and have stayed in this region but we've also got some coming from Queensland, such as my sister-in-law, and others from Geelong and Melbourne."
The former students get together every 10 years to catch up, reminisce and listen to old music.
Mrs Fleming said she had fond memories of her time at school.
"I think it was more free and easy back then," she said.
"When we were kids we had to walk or ride a bike everywhere, whereas now parents seem to drive their kids everywhere.
"I remember at school we always had to wear a hat - a straw one in summer and a felt one in winter - and if we got caught without our uniform on or sneaking out at lunch time we'd get detention."
Mrs Fleming said when she and her friends sneaked down the street they were often met by patrolling prefects.
"We used to sneak out through a little laneway near Woolies and we'd often come back and the prefects were waiting for us," she said.
"We would sneak out and not really do much, just walk up the street. It was a bit silly really."
Mrs Fleming said in previous years, the former students had visited the old school buildings.
"That was at a previous reunion before they changed it all," she said.
"We went through all our old classrooms and it brought back memories of when we used to stand up every Monday for an inspection. We'd have to make sure our tunic was all pressed and our shoes were shiny, because if they weren't you'd be sent to the head mistresses' door."
Mrs Fleming said she was overjoyed to catch up with her old classmates.
"We've had about 10 people from our year who have since passed away and we are all getting a bit older so we thought now is the time to have another get together as it could be one of our last," she said.
Warrnambool Technical College was established in 1913 on the site of what is now known as South West TAFE.
