Ben Rogers kept Forrest goalless as Warrnambool scored a 3-0 win in the Ballarat and District Soccer Association on Saturday.
Priestley said the Rangers had been struggling to keep a clean sheet and Rogers' efforts were deserving of best-on-ground honours.
"He came out for the ball and grabbed the ball off the ground at his opponents' feet," he said.
"He committed to it even though he could've got kicked; he committed to it 100 per cent."
Warrnambool sits second on the 10-team ladder with nine wins, two draws and two losses with five games remaining.
It hosts bottom-placed Creswick, which is yet to win a match, at Jones Oval on Sunday.
"We still have the top team to place in Daylesford and we play a few games at the lower end of the ladder but we still won't be a pushover," Priestley said.
The centre back, 22, is hoping he can have a strong finish after battling calf and groin problems this season.
