Stewards took evidence from Hornets' Nest's trainer James McNamara, his wife Lisa and jumps jockey Paul Hamblin at the hearing and will now consider the evidence from the witnesses before making any further decisions on the inquiry.
Hornets' Nest, who was having his first jumps start for nearly a year, lumped 74kgs in the 3480-metre race before running fourth - ten lengths behind the eventual winner Jamieson.
The stewards queried McNamara and Hamblin after the race on Saturday but adjourned the matter to Thursday.
A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities with Hornets' Nest.
The eleven-year-old jumper is one of eight acceptors for the $100,000 Lafferty Hurdle at Warrnambool on Sunday. Hornets' Nest ran third in last year's Lafferty.
From his 11 jumps starts Hornets' Nest has won three races and been in the minor place getters stall on four occasions.
