The Magpies carved out a 31-26 goal win over the Saints on Saturday.

Port Fairy and South Warrnambool also had wins while Terang Mortlake, which was a game clear before round 11, fell to Warrnambool.

Magpies coach Brooke Richardson said the four clubs were jostling for September action.

"It's going to be a tight to get into fifth position so we're going to have to win games people aren't expecting us to win," she said.

Camperdown, which was two goals down at quarter-time before wresting momentum, benefited from veteran defender Emma Wright's return.

Richardson said Wright, who has been overseas, negated Koroit goal shooter Nell Mitchell.

Mitchell was restricted to 22 goals.

Caitlin Hall was integral in wing defence and Krystal Baker played with a defensive edge in goal attack.

Richardson said the upset win over Koroit, which has now lost three matches, was "good for the girls' self-belief".

She was thrilled with the Magpies' defensive pressure all over the court.

"Koroit is a side that can come back and until the final whistle goes, you can't say you've got it," she said.

"We had to hold on to the ball and stay composed."
