"It's the elite, the NBA is the best competition in the world, and to be a part of that program to get some ideas and see the latest technologies and the latest trends - anything we can transfer to our league - is exciting," Gleeson told the Wildcats' website.
"It's also an opportunity to get to know the players.
"The summer leagues have been pretty good to us in the past, this gives you an inside look at how coachable the players are, and their attitude.
"Some things you miss when watching from the stands."
Gleeson believes the experience will help in his role as Perth coach.
"I'll have the front row seat to a playoff basketball team, so hopefully we'll build some relationships that can help both organisations in the long term," he said.
"I'm looking forward to it."
The NBA Summer League starts on July 5.
The NBL season starts in October.
