The two-game series at Perth's RAC Stadium against a star-studded Canadian team on August 16 and 17 will be the first time the Boomers have played in the Western Australian capital since the 2014 Sino-Australia Challenge, with fans set to witness one of the highest-profile national men's teams ever assembled.
Then the eyes of the world turn to Melbourne, when the Boomers take on current world champions and Olympic gold medalists USA Basketball in front of more than 110,000 fans across two games at Marvel Stadium on August 22 and 24.
Joining Sobey in the squad, announced by Basketball Australia on Thursday, will be current NBA stars Ben Simmons (Philadelphia 76ers), Patty Mills (San Antonio Spurs), Joe Ingles (Utah Jazz), Andrew Bogut (Golden State Warriors), Aron Baynes (Boston Celtics), Matt Dellavedova (Cleveland Cavaliers), Jonah Bolden (Philadelphia 76ers) and Deng Adel (Cleveland Cavaliers).
Other players selected included Todd Blanchfield (Illawarra Hawks), Mitch Creek (South East Melbourne Phoenix), Cameron Gliddon (Brisbane Bullets), Chris Goulding (Melbourne United), Nicholas Kay (Perth Wildcats), Jock Landale (Partizan - Serbia), Mitch McCarron (Melbourne United), Brock Motum (Turkey)
That team will then head to the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup in China, held from August 31 to September 15.
