OFFSHORE
The main targets this week were gummy shark and school shark.
Scott Gray had some great solo fishing off Port Fairy, landing a bag of either school shark or gummy shark both times.
Gerard 'Giggles' Smith and his mate Brett landed four nice shark, also down the coast from Warrnambool. They also reported that they drove past a big heap of tuna on the way down the coast.
The tuna fishing has fired back up the past few days after a quiet spell.
Depths of about 65m seemed to be where most were getting bites, both off Warrnambool and Port Fairy. Size is well down the past week, with lots of fish in the 5-8kg range - making for some great fun on light tackle.
Warrnambool boat charters put their clients onto a similar patch of fish last weekend, trolling skirts and bibbed minnows.

ESTUARIES
The Hopkins continues to produce some great fishing. Barry 'Sticks' Johnson caught and released a great 46cm bream on Sunday, which weighed 1.624kg, and took out the heaviest fish in the Warrnambool and District Angling Club's monthly competition.
Skeeta Andrews caught the heaviest five-fish limit of 3.77kg. Both winners used Cranka crabs to secure their wins.
Shane Lowery and Clint Northcott fished both days with great success. The boys' biggest fish was a solid 44cm, weighing 1.33kg.
Perch seem to have slowed lately as the water begins to cool, so look for the deeper patches in 3-5m of water.
FRESHWATER
The Merri River has come alive this past week, with some great fishing had by anglers off the bank and in the boat.
Sam Powell caught a nice fish off the bank of about 2.5lb, casting a small Daiwa hardbody.
Paul Connor and his wife caught some nice old browns, also while trolling Tassie devils.
With the water cooling down, the fishing will only get better, so now's the time to get out and have a crack at these cagey fish.
Hopefully the sea stays calm and you can all get out and enjoy the great fishing we have on our doorstep.
Until next week, tight lines and best of luck.
