The reigning champion had to bring its best to claim a 4-3 victory at Port Fairy Golf Club on Sunday.
Captain Blair Prescott said he was rapt with his team for getting over the line in a tight contest.
"I don't think the score shows how close it was because we were all out there for the last few holes," he said.
"It could have gone either way, it really could have."
Prescott said he knew his side faced a big challenge as Hamilton was eager to win its first WDGA men's division pennant.
Warrnambool had to do it without its current club champion Sam Astbury who instead competed in a half-marathon.
Prescott said the win indicated that Warrnambool had great depth to draw on.
Warrnambool also took out the men's division one handicap with a 3-2 victory over Mortlake.
Captain Don Higgins said he was thrilled with the win.
"It was fantastic, the guys played really well," he said.
Peterborough captain Jarryd Watene was stoked with his side's 5-2 victory against Camperdown in division two.
"We came in as underdogs I think," he said.
"Camperdown were four and zero through the year."
Mooralla swung its way to the title with a 3-2 division two handicap win over Hamilton.
Captain Mark Williams was glad players in his team lifted for the grand final.
"A few of the other team members were able to stand up for the day because some of us didn't perform as well as we should," he said.
Parklands had its day in division three with a 5-2 victory over Port Fairy.
Winning captain Matt Anderson said he was proud of his team.
"Port Fairy put up a challenge for us today," he said.
"It's hard to play them on their home course but we managed to get over them in the end."
Timboon got the better of Terang and emerged 3-2 victors in the division three handicap.
Captain Matt Hanson said was pleased his side turned the tables in the decider.
"It was a good win in the end after Terang beat us 4-1 through the year," he said.
"So it was really nice to get over them today in such good conditions at Port Fairy."
