Following the collation of suggestions for a new name for the school, the school council has shortlisted the following seven names for consideration:
- Merri College
- Merri P-12 College

School council president Jay Everall said the group engaged with parents and students initially to flesh out the names.
"There was about 40 or 50 suggestions," he said.
"We did a vote among the students and teachers and from there the school council got all the popular names and shortlisted seven.
"The next part is allowing the wider community to get involved and that's where we are up to."
Construction is on track to be completed by mid-September, in time for staff and students to move in for term four.
