Good rain over the past week didn't impact on the numbers penned at Warrnambool, with agents yarding significantly higher numbers. The quality was generally plain in most categories, however, there were some good heavy beef cows which processors were keen to secure. All regular buyers were present but not operating fully due to the plainer offering of cattle, and operated in a market that eased in most categories. Good feeder types were rare, and restockers after the rain were operating, taking home most of the lighter portion of yearlings. Trade quality was very mixed today. The best of the trade steers eased by 13c, making from 250c to 294c, while a handful of good heifers on offer improved prices by a cent, selling from 262c to 284c/kg. Very few well finished grown steers and bullocks suiting the export processors were offered, resulting in prices easing from 4c to 14c/kg. The grown steer portion sold from 260c to 300c, while bullocks made from 269c to 302c/kg. A significant portion of the yarding comprised of manufacturing types, with prices in the dairy category easing from 14c to 16c, to sell from 188c to 200c/kg. The beef steers sold to a fluctuating market trend, making from 195c to 230c/kg. The regular mixed quality cows were offered. Despite the quality of C4 beef cows, prices eased by 3c, selling from 210c to 230c/kg. The top of the dairy portion made from 168c to 186c, while the very light conditioned cows sold from 50c to 148c/kg.
