David was booked to ride Mannertone in the novice 'chase but was replaced by Darryl Horner jnr because he failed to hand in a medical clearance following a fall at Oakbank.

Brown, who remembers skipping school at Emmanuel College on Wednesdays to be trackside before going to watch the Grand Annual the next day, said the feature race was like the Melbourne Cup of the bush.

Due to technical issues the Warrnambool Racing Club could not release attendance figures for the last day of the carnival.
Club CEO Peter Downs said early indications were it was a hugely successful three days.
The club hopes to finalise figures in the coming days.
SUCCESSFUL
Warrnambool export Ciaron Maher took the training honours over the carnival.
Maher had five winners including two features in the Brierly Steeplechase and Galleywood Hurdle.
