The 21-year-old missed two and half months of netball with a Lisfranc ligament injury in her left foot but went on to play in the club's premiership success over Cobden in the Hampden league.
The goalie, who sustained the injury in a pre-season match, said she just strapped her foot now.
"I've been fine this year, it's all recovered," she said.
On Saturday Koroit hosts Warrnambool and is looking for its fourth win in a row.
The Blues, who beat Camperdown, are only just starting find rhythm and sit second last on the ladder with one victory.
While Mitchell has had a dominant start to her season - including 38 goals against Hamilton Kangaroos and 32 against Camperdown - she feels she has room to improve.
"I haven't played as well as I wanted to," she said.
Mitchell said she was adjusting to the new combinations in the Saints line up.
Koroit lost players such as Jessica O'Connor, Jacqui Bowman (retired) and Carly Peake (Merrivale) during the off-season and brought in Emily Batt, Bridget Roache (pregnancy) and Zahli Adams (Port Fairy).
Mitchell said she had been working on developing combinations and had been shooting alongside Belle Baker and Bridget Roache.
The Saints have been without usual goalie Rachel Dobson who has been injured and coach Stacey O'Sullivan said she was still two weeks away from returning.
Mitchell said her team's main focus during the opening rounds was on defensive pressure.
She said it was about everyone applying strong pressure and not just the defenders in the circle.
"I definitely think we're getting there," she said.
"We're turning the ball over, we're just not using it as much in attack."
She said the Saints were also working on their transition up the court and on being patient with the ball.
Gun Blues defender Emma Cust is likely to get the job on Mitchell when the Saints and Blues meet this Saturday.
Cust, who recently returned from injury, featured in the Blues best last week in their win against Camperdown.
Mitchell, a two-time premiership goal shooter with the Saints, said she relished the opportunity to play against the league's best.
"I look forward to all tough defenders," she said.
"She's (Cust) obviously played well in the first few games."
Mitchell, who studies teaching at Deakin University, is working as a teachers aide at St Joseph's Primary School in Warrnambool.
