Warrnambool trainer Symon Wilde gave the south-west team a day one win when Ginny Ann saluted in the Victorian Owners Breeders Incentive Scheme Gold 1000m sprint.
Ginny Ann, with jockey Andrew Mallyon in the saddle, stormed home late in the $100,000 race, much to the delight of its connections.
"These guys have had an amazing run, they've won the two-year-old race on the last day three years running and they bought a filly this year," Wilde said.
"They are going to have a lot of fun (with Ginny Ann).
"Ginny Ann - it's Dallas Ludeman's wife's name. They always name them after someone in their syndicate."
Ciaron Maher-David Eustace runner Seatonic and the Aaron Purcell-trained Substantial rounded out the placings, making it an all-local podium.
Seatonic and Substantial set the pace but Ginny Ann finished stronger.
"I expected the other two to show a bit of speed and she's got that touch of class about her and just from that draw she settled in well," Wilde said.
"She was terrific late. I thought the two leaders were off and gone and she was going to struggle to reel them in."
