The former coach and steadfast defender is travelling overseas and will miss the Bombers' next three matches.
New mentor Mel Starr said the undefeated Bombers - they recorded a 20-goal win over Port Fairy in round three on Saturday - had the versatility to cover McNamara.
"She was best on court for me yesterday," Starr said.

"Bec Dendle can also play in defence if needed."

Starr said Cobden's adaptability was on display against the Seagulls.
Goalie Molly Hutt played a quarter at wing attack and defender Remeny McCann played centre.
"Amy Hammond is an amazing wing attack but you need to have other options," she said.
Cobden will host Hamilton Kangaroos - Starr's old side - next week.
She coached the Roos last year but played down the clash's significance.
"It's just another game in the season for us," she said.
