Agents penned a reduced number of cattle at 1160 head following last week's big yarding, and these sold to a regular field of buyers.

Quality was again mixed but varied from very good to poor, and prices generally reflected the quality on hand.

Cows however sold dearer for the bulk of the plain to average conditioned types, but the poor conditioned 1 scores and the best covered cows were steady.

The yarding comprised of 221 grown steers, 344 young cattle and grown heifers, 579 cows and 16 bulls. There was a good run of vealers, which sold from 250c to a top of 305c/kg. The yearling steers predominately went to restockers who paid up to 260c, with the odd trade purchase topping at 290c/kg.

The yearling heifers made from 230c to 280c, and restockers paid from 225c to 255c/kg. The mixed offering of C muscled grown steers sold from 265c to 298c, with a top quality pen selling to 304c/kg. The C muscled grown heifers made from 230c to 256c, while D2 manufacturing steers sold from 185c to 220c, with restockers topping at 245c/kg for one pen.

A good selection of well covered beef cows sold from 200c to 220c, with the leaner D2 cows making from 175c to 204c/kg.

The plain conditioned D1 grade made from 145c to 175c, with poor conditioned E1 cows selling from 120c to 142c/kg.

The few beef bulls topped at 240c, with dairy bulls averaging 180c/kg.
