The VCAL for Young Parents students have been busy preparing for the Let's Go Totally Boolistic with Nature event next week.
Course co-ordinator Sharna Westley said the students had planned three days of fun for kids of all ages.
On Tuesday, there will be a mobile zoo, jumping castle, basketball clinic and craft activities at Neighbourhood House in Fleetwood Court from 10am to 1pm.
On Wednesday, parents are invited to bring along their children to South West TAFE for nature-based play activities, face painting and a barbecue lunch from 10am to noon, while on Thursday there will be a free event at the botanic gardens from 10.30am to noon.
This event will include a This Girl Can pram walk, a scavenger hunt, a pot plant activity and lunch and fruit provided.
Ms Westley said the event was possible with funding from Victorian Youth Week and Warrnambool City Council.
Talya Mackay is one of the students who has been co-ordinating the three day program.
She encourged anyone with young children to come along to the free events.
Ms Mackay said the course had allowed her to study while caring for her five children.
"It's been great for me," Ms Mackay said.
She said she had uncovered a passion for event planning last year while helping to organise the Victorian Youth Week event.
Ms Mackay said it had led to an opportunity to work with the council for its This Girl Can initiative.
"That's been great because it's exactly what I want to do," she said.
Ms Mackay encouraged people to come along to the free events next week.
"It's going to be really fun," she said.
"Last year we only had preschool kids but this year it's going to be bigger and better."
