Detective Sergeant Andy Raven, of the Warrnambool police crime investigation unit, said officers had conducted an extensive manhunt during the past couple of months which led to the accused's arrest late Friday afternoon.

The man aged in his early 40s has been charged with a $100,000 ​burglary and been remanded in custody to appear in a magistrates court on Monday for a bail/remand hearing.

​Detective Sergeant Raven said when the man was arrested he was found with a large cache of drugs, including ice and cannabis, as well as expensive items such as clothes and perfume.

T​he man was originally charged by Warrnambool detectives with theft and theft of a vehicle.

He was then released on bail but failed to comply with bail conditions and is then alleged to have become involved in more offending.

Warrnambool police have conducted an extensive ongoing investigation which led to the man's arrest.

​"Police have suspected that he has continued to offend. This has been a long and wide-ranging investigation, which we are very happy to say led to his arrest on Friday," he said.

​"There was a small amount of cash recovered on Friday but nothing like what we allege was stolen. The investigation is ongoing and expected to occupy investigators this week," he said.
