Warrnambool police Senior Constable Rachael McMahon said an affray occurred in Clovelly Court about 11.15pm.
"Approximately eight offenders attended an address and assaulted three people," she said.
"It occurred on the front lawn of a property there."
Senior Constable McMahon said police were called and the victims were taken to South West Healthcare's Warrnambool Base Hospital suffering from facial lacerations and severe bruising.
"We believe the offenders were armed with bottles and other unknown implements which were used in the assault."
The victims, two people aged in their 30s, and one aged in their late teens, were later discharged from the hospital.
"Police attended and the offenders had already decamped from the area," Senior Constable McMahon said.
She said the parties were known to each other and assured members of the public they should not be concerned about random attacks.
"Police don't have any concern for the safety of other community members at this point in time," Senior Constable McMahon said.
She urged any member of the public with information on the incident to contact Warrnambool police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
