Warrnambool police highway patrol unit Sergeant Greg Cressall said Operation Arid was conducted statewide and the Warrnambool divisional statistics were generally pleasing in comparing with similar sized areas.
The Warrnambool police service area covers the Warrnambool, Moyne and Corangamite council areas.
Sergeant Cressall said there were 510 preliminary breath tests with five positive readings recorded.
He said there was only one serious accident, involving a couple going to the Port Fairy Folk Festival.
Police generally pleased with driver behaviour over long weekend
"There were 87 offences generally using phones, seat belt offences and speeding," he said.
"In comparison Ballarat had 155 and Southern Grampians had 99.
"Generally we were pretty pleased with driver behavior. We get very disappointed when there's collisions.
"Considering the high volume of traffic it was reasonable," he said.
