Police have recovered a stolen car after it evaded officers and went through red lights in Warrnambool mid afternoon Monday.
Detective Sergeant Andy Raven, of the Warrnambool police crime investigation unit, said officers saw the driver of a white Mitsubishi Mirage hatchback leave an address in Giffen Street, in west Warrnambool, at 3.40pm.
"Police members activated their emergency lights but the driver accelerated away," he said.
"It was soon after seen going through a red light at the intersection of Raglan Parade and Morriss Road."
The vehicle was recovered at Hawthornvale Lane in Koroit and will be forensically examined today.
Detective Sergeant Raven said the white Mirage was later reported stolen.
"It's believed there were two people on board and we are trying to identify the driver," he said.
"Anyone who saw the vehicle or who has dash camera footage is requested to contact Warrnambool police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000," he said.
