VicRoads south-west acting regional director Emma Miller-Olsen said VicRoads was always willing to listen to community concerns and feedback.
"We always strive to balance the needs of the local community and local industries with our ultimate goal of keeping everyone safe on the road network," she said.
"We encourage anyone who might have concerns to call us on our dedicated hotline, 133 778," she said.
A VicRoads spokeswoman said that Woodford's Bridge Road was an approved B-double route and part of the Over Size Over Mass (OSOM) network - an approved network of roads that over-dimensional vehicles were permitted to use.
She said there had been one crash resulting in injury reported on Bridge Road at Woodford in the past five years.
Monday: The Woodford community is concerned about the amount of trucks using Bridge Road as a Warrnambool bypass, especially after a single-vehicle accident involving a heavy vehicle on Monday morning.
Parent Naomi Waterfall said there had been a number of fatal accidents across the south-west this year, resulting in six deaths.
"With recent tragedies on our local roads we believe it’s only a matter of time before another incident will happen," she said.
"Lots of children walk or ride to school along Bridge Road, including my own children.
"Just last week my husband contacted local (Warrnambool) councilors regarding the increased use of this road with trucks and cars, the lack of cars slowing down at school times and the narrow bridge."
Mrs Waterfall said they had also emailed VicRoads about her concerns and spoken to the Woodford Primary School principal Daniel Watson.
"Just this morning a truck hit the bridge and guard railing and then hit the fencing that borders the footpath where the children walk to school," she said.
"We are trying to get support to change the traffic conditions so another child’s life is not lost," she said.
Contact has been with VicRoads for comment.
Warrnambool police said they had not been called to the accident scene on Monday morning.
