A Royal Children's Hospital spokeswoman has just confirmed the girl is in a critical condition.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesman said the young bike rider had suffered head injuries.
Earlier: A 10-year-old girl bike rider has been flown to the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne after an accident with a car in Portland late Sunday afternoon.
Portland police Sergeant Andrew Dunlop said the accident happened about 5.30pm at the intersection of Must and Ballater streets.
"The young girl was hit by a car and has been flown to a Melbourne hospital in a stable condition," he said.
"Police members were extremely grateful for the assistance provided to both parties by the witnesses first on the scene," he said.
