"We all use the Timboon rail trail for walking, riding and running, but we traveled elsewhere to compete in events," Trestle 10 committee member Simon Buccheri said.
"So we thought 'why not start something ourselves', and the event grew from there."
Proceeds from the Trestle 10 fun run will be donated to the Timboon Rail Trail committee to help replace shelters and infrastructure damaged by the 2018 St Patrick's Day fires.
Mr Buccheri said it was important for the event to support the rail trail.
"We started the event to utilize the rail trail," he said. "The rail trail is an amazing asset that many people don't know about or use," he said.
After the "overwhelming success" of the first run in 2018, the committee decided to continue as a community building event.
"We weren't sure if it would run a second time, it was a lot of work," Mr Buccheri said.
"But after the St Patrick's Day fire, we wanted to organise the run again for the community.
"There has been a lot of positive community support."
Mr Buccheri said that there will be an event to suit all abilities.
"We want this event to be family friendly, the event is pretty chilled out."
"The 10km event will start near the distillery and run out and back along the rail trail, with runners crossing the Timboon trestle bridge."
Runners taking part in the 5km event will be bused out to the halfway point and then run or walk back along the rail trail to the finish line. The 'Icecream Mile', a 1.6km child-friendly event will run out and back on the rail trail.
People can register to run on the event website, or from 7.30am on Sunday morning at the start line near the Timboon Distillery. All participants will have a race briefing at 8.15am.
